At Harvest Salt & Light Academy, our curriculum is intentionally chosen to provide both a strong biblical foundation and excellent academic instruction. We use the Answers Bible Curriculum to guide students in understanding God’s Word, building a biblical worldview, and learning to confidently know and defend their faith. Alongside this, we implement the Abeka academic program, known for its strong, structured approach to reading, math, writing, history, and science. Together, these programs allow us to offer a well-rounded education that is both academically rigorous and deeply rooted in truth.
Strong Academic Foundations
We place a significant emphasis on literacy, recognizing that reading is the gateway to lifelong learning. Through structured phonics instruction, guided reading, reading comprehension, handwriting, spelling, vocabulary development, and quality literature, students are equipped with the tools they need to build the skills necessary to become fluent readers, effective communicators, and confident learners.
Mathematics is taught with the same intentionality. Students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through hands-on learning, problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world application. Rather than simply teaching students how to arrive at an answer, we strive to help them understand the "why" behind the process, building both competence and confidence along the way.
Our approach is rooted in mastery and understanding rather than rushing through material. We believe children learn best when they are given the time, support, and encouragement needed to fully grasp concepts before moving forward. Through small class sizes and relationship-based instruction, teachers are able to meet students where they are, provide individualized support, and cultivate a genuine love for learning to grow academically with confidence.
The result is an educational environment where students are challenged academically, encouraged personally, and equipped with the strong foundations needed for future success.

Biblical studies, prayer, and character development woven naturally throughout the day
– building faith, character, and a strong moral foundation.

Understanding God’s creation.
Students plant seeds, care for the garden, harvest produce, and help prepare or can the
produce — learning science, responsibility, and nutrition along the way.

Children help care for animals while learning about responsibility, life cycles, and food sources.

Students learn things many schools no longer teach — cooking/baking, basics, organizing,
independence, and caring for shared spaces.

Students may grow produce, make handmade items, or create simple goods to sell at a small
student-run market — learning math, business, and stewardship.

Learning you can see, touch, and apply. Interactive math, hands-on reading and writing, science experiments, and project-based lessons that connect knowledge to real understanding.

Instead of only reading about nature, students observe insects, plants, weather, soil, and
ecosystems firsthand.

Rather than just memorizing dates, students experience history through storytelling, crafts, and
hands-on projects.

Art, music, nature, and curiosity driven learning —because learning was never meant to stay on a page.

Students practice serving others, teamwork, and
responsibility in meaningful ways, building confidence and communication skills
Because education shouldn’t just prepare children for the next test...It should prepare them for life.

•Budgeting and understanding money
