Meet the Heart Behind Harvest Salt & Light Academy

 I wanted to take a moment to personally introduce myself, because this academy is not just a vision—it’s something God has placed deeply on my heart. 

It’s not just about creating a school, It’s about stewarding a calling. 

My name is Brittany Monroe, and I am the founder and director of Harvest Salt & Light Academy. 

I’m also a mom, and like many of you, I’ve spent years thinking about what education should look like for our children. For a long time, I felt a quiet tug that something was missing…Not just academically—but spiritually, relationally, and in the way children are truly seen and nurtured at school.

 I found myself thinking “There has to be a better way.”

And as a parent, one thing kept weighing on my heart…
We are creating a Christ-centered environment at home—only to send our children into an environment day after day that doesn’t align with those same values.

Over the past several years, I watched families in our community grow concerned. Academic gaps widening, behavioral struggles increasing, children losing confidence, parents feeling unheard, and values not aligning.

Many of us felt it quietly…something foundational was missing.

…..there weren’t many options within our community.

And I couldn’t ignore it.

After a lot on prayer, it became clear, the only option was to create it.

For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of educating and caring for others in my professional life, but this was different. This is about creating a place where:

• Children are rooted in Christ, not just taught about Him
• Learning goes beyond the classroom and into real life
• Character, confidence, and purpose are intentionally built
•Each child is known, valued, and nurtured in who God created them to be—learning at their own pace, not shaped by a system

Harvest Salt & Light Academy was born out of prayer, obedience, and a deep desire formed from a calling to create something different for families in our community.

Our Academy stands out because it is built from personal lived experience. As a little girl, I once attended a small, homeschool-style learning environment that combined academics with farm stewardship. It shaped me. It gave me confidence. It gave me depth.

Now, as a woman and a mother, I feel called to recreate that kind of environment — not just for my children, but for others who are longing for it.

I am trusting God fully as He brings the right people—teachers, families, and supporters—alongside this mission. I can’t wait to see what God does.
